In the early 1980s, government cutbacks in child care funding led Encompass to generate enterprising fundraising ideas, for which Carol “Bicky” Bush, member of the Board of Trustees during that time, was always the most creative. Carol, who believed in “Making Everyday a Big Event,” had a vision for a children’s event and was willing to chair it with energy and enthusiasm. In 1989, Carol and the Big Event coordinating committee brought her vision into reality with our community’s first Big Event for Little Kids.
As Encompass’ signature fundraiser, sponsorship and donation proceeds from the Big Event for Kids support our mission to make high-quality child care accessible and affordable to families across our community. Through tuition assistance and our Child & Family Advocate Program, we support children in the classroom and wrap our arms around families.
