Building Connections: The Power of Collaboration in Early Childhood Education

This month, we launched our first-ever combined staff meetings at Encompass! By bringing together two centers at a time, we’re fostering greater collaboration and shared learning across our agency.

Our focus for this session was The Importance of Connection in Early Childhood Education and Care. After an initial group discussion, we split into smaller teams based on the age groups we work with to explore Feeling Buddies and Baby Doll Circle Time. These Conscious Discipline tools help strengthen emotional regulation and connection in the classroom by giving children opportunities to recognize, name, and process emotions with the support of educators, using dolls or buddies. The training was led by experienced staff members, including Educators, Center Directors, and Child and Family Advocates who have successfully implemented these strategies in their own classrooms.

Combined staff meetings play a vital role in fostering collaboration and professional growth among our staff. Our team members bring diverse strengths, skills, and experiences to their work, and by coming together, we create opportunities to share ideas, learn from one another, and expand the tools we use to support children. Beyond professional development, these meetings also enhance staff morale—giving educators a space to discuss challenges, exchange ideas, and gain valuable perspectives from colleagues at other centers facing similar situations.

Looking ahead, our goal is to continue building a culture of collaboration, mentorship, and shared expertise. By increasing connection among educators, we strengthen our collective ability to support children’s growth and development—ensuring that every classroom benefits from the knowledge and experience of our entire Encompass team.

We’re excited for what’s ahead and grateful for the dedication of our incredible staff in making this initiative a success!
