When families have support, children do better and communities grow stronger. Still, many families run into barriers that keep them from getting the help they need.
Funded by the Basic Needs Giving Partnership, Rooted in Change is an initiative created to change this by starting with something simple and powerful: listening. By sharing stories and having honest conversations, we are learning what families go through, where they look for support, and what makes it hard for them to get help.
We held several community sessions at our Green Bay and Oconto Falls centers. These brought together families, educators, and community partners in spaces focused on trust, openness, and working together. These conversations have given a chance for voices that are often not heard and have revealed both urgent needs and strong strengths in our community.
What we are learning is meaningful. Families are bravely sharing their experiences. Partners are coming together to listen and truly understand. In these shared spaces, we are starting to see where gaps exist and where hope and opportunity can grow.
The next phase of Rooted in Change will turn these conversations into action by working more closely with community partners. Together, we will improve current supports and create new ways to better meet families’ real needs.
Rooted in Change is more than just a project. It is a deliberate plan to truly see families, listen to their voices, and respond with support systems that reflect both their challenges and their strengths.
